16 core Mac Pros


disclaimer: before start, i'm 2nd hand knowledge, , i'm little skeptical source, take rumor , *not* fact.

when @ work yesterday (retail), guy came in , told me needed new ups mac. asked kind had, , said brand new 16 core mac pro, came out in past week.

went apple's website check, , of course there no mention of kind of 16 core mac pro. asked him , said works atlantic (the recording studio), , big name places offered higher end systems earlier consumers.

i'm still little skeptical, sounded pretty believable. i'm sure apple would've been working on higher end systems, although thought maybe 12 core coming next, not huge jump 16.

take it's worth, sounds pretty cool though :d:apple:

intel not planning 16-core cpus until 2010 @ earliest, based on roadmaps have seen @ idf , other shows. don't believe have engineering samples available.

nehalem line offer 16-core option, planned ones 4 , 8 cores. now, nehalems support hyperthreading, 8-core (or twin 4-core) nehalem system can execute 16 threads.

expect apple move mac pro gainestown, available in four-core package. 2 of execute 16-threads. perhaps fellow, if has engineering sample nehalem mac pro, confusing 16 threads 16 cores.

need help with itunes 7.7
